If anyone hears of a KTM 520 going cheap let me know. Mine just vanished along with the box trailer it was in.
This is getting ridiculous. Thats the 5th bike i've had stolen from me, and the second dirt bike in a row. And every one has been stolen in a different city. Each one of them was locked up and (seemingly) secure. Damn thieves made their way through 3 separate locks to get it this time.

Hmmm. Sounds like you need a deterrant.

How about a nice set of Large batteries connected serialy, then attach to your bike and trailer. When they touch them both you will get a DNA sample left on your trailer :)

Does anyone have any other suggestions for saving our friends bikes?

Get this - turns out it wasnt stolen, it was towed. Apparently its illegal to park in one place for more than 3 days? Thats what the DOT lady said when i called to find out why they stole my trailer. She couldnt answer me when i asked why my truck wasnt towed, or why my neighbours unregistered POS van wasnt towed. My trailer is registered, clearly not abandoned, and parked in front of my house.
So $332 and a busted wheel later, I have to figure out a way to prevent this from happening again. In total they probably did around $100 worth of damage but at least everything was still inside. I should be a lot angrier than I am but I was just so grateful to get it back.

Not sure if you already have it, but you can get comprehensive (theft) insurance on your dirtbikes, allowing you to protect your investment. For someone with your track record, it might be worth a look. I have State Farm covering my CRF450 race bike. Its $105/yr full coverage. They will also cover all the accessories on the bike if you kept receipts. PM me if you would like the name of my agent. Im glad things more-or-less worked out for you.

Don't wanna sound like an a-hole, but it's very simple for me: no house (with your own backyard/driveway) = no trailer. Someone in our community parks a trailer with two jet skis on the street... typically for a couple of days at a time. That thing screams to get stolen. What the thief needs... 2" tow hitch? Wheel locks? You saw its efficiency.

For that same reason I prefer a compact Euro SUV w/ Moto-tote to a pickup. A truck wouldn't fit in my garage, and I refuse to keep any of my property on the street.

I've actually been shopping around for a KTM, so I'll post if I dig up something on craigslist, ebay, cycletrader, etc.

For your next bike, I suggest lethal boobytraps.

They busted up a wheel? WTF? You should at least get to smack the officer who had your ish towed. Hit him with one of these :welcome

Glad you got your stuff back.
