I had a long chat with mi padre. He is not going to compromise for anything. He doesn't like the Buelle Blast because "it looks like a woman's bike" and he doesn't want me to learn on a sport bike because "it's too dangerous". He keeps on insisting that learning to turn will be easier if there is a wider handle. The weight? No problem, he says- "the guy at the Kawasaki delearship said cruisers are safer, weren't you listening? Do you have more experience than him?" Anyway, I guess I should be glad he's letting me get one to start off with. So, we'll be looking for a used Honda Rebel. Good news is, after a few months or so, he said he'll let me get any sport bike I wanted to. Even the SV650S, he says- but since he's changed his mind about 50,000 times since the week started, he might not. We're going to start looking in the DFW area for a good 250cc cruiser style bike. Thanks for all your help! I'll keep you guys updated if I do get one however. Thanks!

Believe it or not, I almost bought a Rebel myself. It's actually a nice bike to start on. graemlins/thumb.gif

We were looking around different stores today, when I spotted a Ninja 250! It belonged to someone else but I was quick to point out how small it was and how it'd be a perfect fit for me. My dad caved in! He talked to the owner and he got to sit on it and tried it out, and it actually got his seal of approval. So, we went to two different Kawasaki delearships around the area, but none of them had any in stock- they were all sold out. Anyhow, so after this saturday when my SATs are done with, me and my dad are going to go do some serious searching for the Ninjette. I can't wait! As much as I like the rebel, I can't help it if I like the Ninja better. I'll keep ya'll updated. Thanks.

Although new is nice, don't completely rule out used. A lot of people get them for first bikes, then sell them a few months or a year after buying them so they can move up to a bigger bike.
