what would be the fist bike for me to get i wanted a r6 cause they look soo sick but everyone keeps telling me they are very bad for starter bikes so ive been looking at my buddie's f4i but if for some reason that deal falls through i really wanna get a ducati 748 or a new ninja zx6r in that silver color. the bikes ive driven in the past are a 00' cbr 929rr and a 95' gsx-r 1100 but i feel booth thoose bike are way too powerful for me the 929rr scares the shit out of me. wells i just want to ask yalls for your opinions

thanks,
DEREK

There's no such thing as a best first bike. But, the general rule is that you want to start with something small and used. A used 250 that cost $1500 is better 1st bike for most people, but a used 500R, SVS650, F2/F3, ZX6, GS500, and FZR600 are also good startbike bikes too. You don't want to start with something new because it's more expensive to fix new bikes than used ones. Maybe Yohan can give you some of his personal opinions on picking out your first bike. He was bikeless a few weeks ago, but now cruising around with his new toy! :D

I, myself, got a brand new F4i as my first bike, even before I know how to ride.

Just follow your dream and respect the power of your throttle.

I got a Suzuki GS500 as my first bike. I was worried to death about the bike looping out, etc. etc. etc, but in the end, it didn't even matter. As for me, I'm not in a hurry to hit the 100 mark, so the 500 is plenty of power for me. Feels good to go 40, and eventually, I'm sure I'll move onto a different bike. I got mine used for 2000 dollars, complete with scratches, dings, a taped up seat and a nice dent on the gas tank, but I appericiated it all when I first dropped it while trying to turn it around on a narrow driveway. BTW, I think the dent on the gas tank actually deflects some wind. Ran out of mods to try? Grab a hammer, you're only one dent away from reduced wind resistance! graemlins/evilwink.gif

I think you should get a r6. If you're mature and can handle the controls of the bike with ease, then i think it is very possible for you to start with an r6.

just dont get carried away and be as cautious as you can with gear, speed, parking lot driving, etc.

life is too short... go for the r6, thats just my opinion.

I think the issue comes down to self-control. Seomthing we can't tell you- something you'll have to figure out for yourself

I agree with Yohan. It's hard to say which is the right bike for you. I think the f4i is nice and forgiving. But in the wrong hands, it can also be trouble. When I was starting out, I bought an '86 ninja. Dumped it a couple of times. The benefit was, I realized I really liked riding and could handle it. Now I got the '01 f4i and I can lap jikser:bartmoon:
