Vtec? Anyone?

I have been witness to expensive national Focus Tests of graphics I did for Airborne Express when I used to do work for them. We were using a lot of black backgrounds with white type. because of their logo colors.

In general, the people we tested much preferred WHITE backgrounds and dark type. We switched over and made customers MUCH happier in the next set of Focus Tests.

Your site would be much easier to read if you replaced all the dark backgrounds that force you to use white type.

You don't need to LOOK like Darth Vader bad boyz....Just WRITE nasty.

This is a good example of a very easy to read site with great madness in the posts:

I love the darker background, especially on CTR monitors, because it doesn't project out a lot of lights directly to your eyes. Looking at computers all day long, it does help your eyes a lot. :D

Ok. 4 votes out of millions must make it right.

Be the princes of doom...

How about THIS site?

http://www.cbrworld.net/global/cbrworld.asp

Keep the black mast head and borders, but let the typing area be white background with dark type?

God forbid you hurt your delicate eyes...stop looking at so much porn!

I think one issue about this is "customers". If someone is on a site looking to make a purchase or deal with a business, they want the site/graphics to be bright and "open", to look "business professional." Darker colors, like this site, are geared to a more personal level rather than a business professional level.

Ahahaha, if you look through the entire site, there's a theme to it Blue/Gray/Black, dark background, certain font sizes, etc. Changing one may require changing the entire site... and I ain't got time for that right now! graemlins/twofinger.gif

I think of biking as an OUTDOOR thing. Sunny. Warm. Golden tones. Blue skies.

There is a great book called the "Lucher Color Test." Lucher, a Swiss psychiatrist, developed 7 colors that when placed in random order—illicit a deep psychological response that is amazingly revealing. It helped him delve into the minds of people so damaged they could hardly talk.

The color black when placed to other colors increases the psychological effect MANY times over.

For instance, red is the color of passion, and literally increases the heart rate when enough is exposed. It stimulates the appetite, etc.

When black is placed next to red, it exagerates the stimulus of red, and is interpreted as "feelings of pent up emotion wanting to break loose in erratic behavior."

I showed this to Air Borne's marketing department, and told them their logo colors were not consumer friendly. FedEx, in contrast had Violet and Orange, which Lucher interprets as "an optimistic desire to please other people." It is much more involved than this, but the point is: that color is powerful stuff.

I didn't want my red and black bike, because I knew it would touch off every weakly constituted motorist within eyesight of me. I wanted something much calmer, but it didn't exist.

Black and Yellow illicits an even MORE manic/erratic response. Taxicab colors. (Mad1!!!)

I wanted the silver white and hint of red color scheme, and I'm pissed they didn't offer it in 04. Calmer colors.

Anyway black is for exaggerating things. Silver is lack of emotion, neutrality.

You want to touch off crazy people with crazy fast bikes...this is the right place!
