GSXR-Freak Helped me with installing my new brakelines this morning. At first I thought that Jesus was smoking something when he made these things, because the only way that I could get them to work was to rotate the actual brake housing out of the way. That is until we figured that we may have been trying to put them in upside down. Unscrew, fiddle with tumbling washers, and flip it. AHHHHHHH, like a glove. My brake fluid hadn't been changed since i bought the bike almost 2 years ago, so my brakes were beyond mushy. F4i brakes are naturally mushy, and old brake fluid makes it worse. Earl temporarily fixed it by moving the lever farther away from the bar. Worked fine for a while, but it was a stretch for my fingers and they were progressively doing less and less of their inteded job of stopping the bike.

Put the Russells on and eh, I sqeezed the lever in...no big deal. I did the rear brake too and then decided to take a spin around a few turn and do some braking from speed. HOOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!! Like BUTTA!!! the brakes don't stop the bike any harder or quicker, but when the brakes are sqeezed, you can feel the stopping power in your grips. My rubber lines would let me squeeze until I ran out of muscle, but these have a definite stopping point and it is very firm. I don't know if I'm making any sense, but I was able to move my brake lever in an inch closer to my hand and it is so much better now.

Big ups to Jesus and his pimin' Brake Lines.:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb:thumb

JamesTec44, you got any russell decals in your system. My bike is ready to don them. If not, I'll have to design them.

I've been way to busy lately to wash her. I feel bad for the neglect. the chain gets cleaned every week or so but the bike hasn't seen a cleaning in a while. I guess I'm just waiting until rain season to come back so my bike can get a good rinsing.

Just ride behind my minivan. I'll turn on my windshield washer fluid. :)

After using these lines for a week, I have to say that the difference is night and day. I still have to get used to the feel of the front brakes in traffic. I realized that i used to have to use more force to stop the bike than I do now and I don't want to accidentally stoppy while splitting up the 405. excellent brakelines...I couldn't be happier :thumb

I tried going to the russell site, but like Jesus mentioned, there isn't really much on there for sportbikes. He would be the main person to ask about them. I have no complaints about them whatsoever.

were they expensive?

MAD1

NOPE, they definitely were NOT expensive...just in my price range. ;)

Russell should be the official brakelines of SBN. :D

What kind of bike do you have, rico?

James: I'm very happy that you are satisfied with our lines.

As always, I am trying to promote and encourage our sportbike product line. Over here I'm really doing my best to push for more promotional products (giveaways/raffles) for you our #1 priority. Also, as a loyal member of SBN, I've given 'deals' to a certain number of you (and will continue to do so)to increase awareness of our emergence into the sportbike community. Any and all offers from me will be posted here.

This bike was on the development list which I posted a few months ago. Unfortunaly, the development has already been completed. I'm sure we can work something out, it'll just depend on my mood LOL

Why would u tape it? It doesn't feel good and it hurts when you pull it off.

Free Bump.......No just kidding. I just had my russell brake lines installed by a very reputable installer (;) thanks sauce). All the main complaints I had about my stock braking system are gone (not that I had any before but after the install it is a night and day difference). Brake feel is vastly improved and after lots of hard braking it still feels the same as the first time I squeezed them. If I was a stunter I would be doing mad stoppies right now son but since I am a mad commuter I will continue doing some mad commutin.

In all seriousness.....the brake lines are definite upgrade for anyone that rides and this is something I should have done a long time ago.

Mumford out.
