Batman Begins was the best Batman to date.
Bad News Bears was pretty damn funny. The original was better, but the new one held its own.
I prefferred the new Charlie to the old.
Wedding Crashers had its moments, but it could have been much, much better. Rachel McAdams (http://imdb.com/name/nm1046097/) is HOT HOT HOT.

"History of Violence" was pretty good.
tablesalt :drool2I have a different opinion of that POS movie! Cheesy script, bad line delivery, HORRIBLE sex scenes (how can you screw that up?!), and the entire theatre was laughing through the "serious" parts. The one thing they did get right is the action scenes....all 4 of them. The only good thing about the movie was that they didn't use crappy computer effects!

Saw Potter and Jarhead last night. Both were above average. Potter will be much better if youve seen the previous movies or read the book. If not, you will be completely lost for a lot of the details. Jarhead was pretty good...entertaining without the non-stop action of the typical war flick.

Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
I really liked the movie. Someone mentioned it stayed pretty true to the novel, but I don't remember much of the book. All I remember was I really disliked Edmund, and felt the same way watching the movie.
The best character in the movie had to be the witch. :D Oh, and the centurions were pretty kickass. When I grow up, I'd like to be one.

Chronicles of Narnia was good. It's like the book, but the movie version! :D
While I was fighting a flu bug for 10 days (I'm fully recovered now), I had the opportunity to watch quite a few DVDs that I had bought and finally had the chance to watch, so here's a lengthy review.
1) War of the Worlds- This just blew royal, nothing more I can say!
2) Fantastic 4- Jessica Alba looked great, :D otherwise it was OK.
3) Pitch Black & Chronicles of Riddick- These were actually quite good, and entertaining! The Riddick DVD is special effects galore, I may rewatch that again!
4) The Cell- A J Lo flick, and not bad, it filled time, which I needed to do while fighting the flu bug.
5) Seven- Terrific DVD, the ending is quite sad and gruesome.
6) 7 Years in Tibet- Actually, a terrific movie, an excellent period piece and the cinematography is just spectacular, a real sleeper!
7) The Great Raid- A good piece about a POW camp raid by US Army Rangers during WWII, it was OK.
8) The Island- Interesting story and well done! Good special effects too.
9) Taking Lives- WOW, what a flick!!! See this if you can!!!! Angelina Jolie is terrific, I never liked her before, but I like her now, she is HOT!!!!!!!!
10) The Contender- Not bad, a story about a woman Senator up for confirmation to be VP, lots of political drama, it was interesting and well done.
11) 40 Year Old Virgin- OMG, I laughed my azz off, this is a funny movie, the DVD has 17 minutes of additional unrated stuff.
12) Cinderela Man- GREAT movie!!!! Very well made and a true story, really makes you appreciate our realtively easy lives now compared to what the Depression era folks went thru.
13) Mr & Mrs Smith- Not bad, the story line was a little strange IMO, but Angelina Jolie looked great. :D
That's it, I need to buy some more DVDs tomorrow.:rolleyes

I just saw king kong last night and it was long as hell but a good flick IMO. Jack Black actually did a good job and the graphics are nuts (I saw it on Imax!) I also saw walk the line 2 weeks ago and it was REALLY good. Im a huge Johnny Cash fan so that may be why I liked so much, but I definately reccomend it.

Spielberg's "War of the Worlds" absolutely sucked whether "The Island" actually had more of Spielbergian sci-fi thriller quality. Not the main reason I liked it. I just had to wipe smile off my face every time Scarlett Johanson appeared on screen (I was watching it with my wife).

"40y.o. Virgin" is a good comedy though it gets somewhat politically correct towards the [happy] end: the good old guy gets appropriate good old women and one of the nasty guys gets young hot nasty girl (that blond bookstore clerk).

But apparently it can be an acquired taste. So give it to them while they are young. I think you can buy it out here in the states. My wife turned some up from somewhere once. Yum Yum..
Narnia was a really good movie, i was so surprised it is as good as it is. The visuals and the acting go well together. Although my wife thought maybe the witch did not come across as bad enough!

it could have been a great movie, but i actually think that spielberg dropped the ball. he took a little dramatic license with the characters.....is it supposed to be based on a book, but some things were changed for effect. i just think that a movie about something like this...could have been great, but spielberg was just not the right guy for the job.
OK, it's been a few weeks, and I've watched a few more DVDs, so here's my review.
1. Original Italian Job, MUCH different than the modern day Italian Job, same basic theme of a gold heist, but totally different approach, etc. Interesting though.
2. Into the Blue, Jessica Alba what more do I need to say? Good movie, I enjoyed watching it! :D
3. Wedding Crashers (unrated version), OMG, what a crack up, I was rolling!!!
4. Transporter 2, not bad, a little hokie on the car stuff, but not bad.
5. Red Eye, WOW what a turn of events movie, well done and the main gal was cute!
6. Two for the Money, GREAT flick, I liked it a lot!!!
7. Lord of War, VERY different, I liked the first person narration. The opening scene of the bullet factory was cool!
8. 2001 A Space Odyssey, OK it was on sale, so I bought it, TERRIFIC special effects for an early 70s flick! Very well done, although I still don't get the ending even after 30+ years! :lmfao
9. The Cave, it was OK, a little hokie story line, but the underwater & cave cinematography were good.
10. Stealth, Jessica Biel, yum! OK movie, except the ending, the Korean DMZ does not look like that, I've been there. Earl --> :welcome <--Movie Director.
11. Amistad, it was on sale, a good flick, very well done.
12. The Cell, a J LO movie! Intersting concept, even if far fetched, but entertaining nonetheless.
13. The Score, GREAT flick, I love DeNiro flicks, this one was innovative!
14. Indian Wars, a 3 disc documentary, WOW, I didn't know a lot of what really happened. The Native American Indians went thru hell.
That's it for now, hittin' Best Buy tomorrow to see what's new for this week.

Red Eye was good at first, but I think it slowly got stupid. Typical Wes Cravin movie. I finally saw The Island. It was pretty good, but like Red Eye, slowly went downhill. It too was a typical movie for director Micheal Bay. It had some really cool chase scenes and special effects. Only thing that got me was that it was supposed to be like 20 years in the future and most of the cars were the same cars we drive today. All the cop cars were Chrysler 300Cs???

I really want to see that to. :D
I watched 2 terrific DVDs this week; Flight Plan and Tae Guk Gi.
Flight Plan was terrific, I was watching it wondering WTF is going on? But I was pleasantly surprised by the ending! It was well done and has a good plot.
Tae Guk Gi is a Korean movie that's about the Korean War and how it impacted the lives of two brothers. Being half Korean, a product of the Korean War, and having intimate knowledge of the war, and having visted many battle sites in S Korea, etc, the movie really struck home.
The movie was just amazing, I was just completely surprised at the realism and how well made it was!!! It reflected the war very well from a factual historical perspective (unlike Hollywood).
I watched the DVD in Korean with English subtitles, and was surprised by how much Korean I still understood!
The only "funny" part was how the Korean cursing was interpreted, some seriously bad language came across as "bastard," I was cracking up over that.
If you have any % of Korean heritage, this movie is a "must see!"
Watched a few mo' DVDs these past 2 weeks, here's the review.
1) Snake Eyes, a Nicholas Cage action flick that's actually quite good and entertaining. An action/drama yarn about a defense industry scandal/cover up. It was good.
2) Suicide Kings, a Christopher Walken drama about 2 rich kids who kidnap a crime king pin trying to scam $2 mill in the process. The ending is quite interesting.
3) End of Days, an Arnold action flick, so it had to be good! :D I've never seen this and finally bought the DVD since it was on sale (of course). The plot was interesting and the action scenes were quite good, some of THE loudest audio I've ever heard on a DVD BTW!
4) Doom, it was OK, I was really expecting more.
I bought a few mo' DVDs yesterday, so after dinner, I'll be watching "Shaft" tonight, the Samuel L Jackson version, not the OG Richard Roundtree version.

Greatest basketball movie ever.
It made me want to hustle down in Venice Beach.
OK, review time again, watched a few flicks this past week, so here's the review. BTW, Fry's has some GREAT prices on DVDs.
1) Cellular, action packed flick with Kim Bassinger, interesting plot and well done.
2) Exit Wound, a Steven Segal movie, OK it was on sale, :D entertaining nonetheless. A different twist on corrupt cops. DMX was in the flick and I really liked his remix of "Ain't No Sunshine." His music video of this song was on the DVD, sounded killer on my speakers.
3) Total Recall, an Arnold movie, I didn't have this in my collection and it was remastered and in widescreen, and on sale. It was good fun to watch.
4) The Big Bounce, funny and intriguing plot. Dry at times, but OK.
5) Final Fantasy, an animation movie that was just SPECTACULAR to watch on the big screen. The colors and action were just clear as could be, and VERY well done. It was on sale at Fry's (finally), so I picked it up, glad I did!
6) Secret Window, a Johnny Dep mystery movie, it was different and well done. The ending is quite interesting!
That's it for now, I'll be hitting Fry's again this w/e to see if anything else is on sale. :rolleyes

Forgot to include "Shaft" with Samuel L Jackson, it was good, I liked it.

Thanks for the review, it sounds interesting..I'll watch it. I actually watched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon in Chinese with subtitles. I don't like voiceovers at all, it detracts from the realism of the movie. I would rather have them speak in Chinese, Korean or whatever and read subtitles. That makes it more real.

I agree on the original language thing, I do the same.
Get the DLP, or LCD. Plasma is on its way out.
I saw a BITCHIN' Mitsubishi Gold Series 62" LCD 1080 P at Fry's, it was $5K!!! The picture quality was just outstanding.
I'm still VERY satisfied with my Mitsu 65" CRT HDTV, though. The upconverting DVD players are fantastic, you gotta get one for best picture quality from the std DVDs!

Yep, that's why I won't rush out and buy anything new, I'll just sit back and see which format wins out, and go from there after the prices drop in about a year or so.

I've been searching for Akira Kurosawa's "Ran" (Rahn) for quite a while, and I finally found a place on line that had it.

i saw unleashed and final destination 3 this weekend.
Both i expected to be more action packed, i was left waitng for something to happen and it was all dramatic then bla nothing great.
OK, I just finished the RS125, so here are my reviews.
1) Sleepy Hollow, a Johnny Dep flick about Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman, it was very well done, and had its tense moments.
2) Ran (Rahn), an Akira Kurosawa drama about a feudal Japanese warlord and his three sons, it makes a Shakespeare drama seem lame in conmparison! The twists and turns and the ending are just amazing and ironic.
3) Starsky & Hutch, a spoof comedy of the original TV series, it had its moments. But, was a total turn off when they had Chinese actors playing the part of Koreans, and they spoke garbled Korean which was barely decipherable. You'd think these movie makers would get their Asians right!
4) Musketeer, another musketeer action yarn, which was OK. It was decently well made and had a good cast, the action scenes were well done too.
5) Robin Williams on Broadway, this was originally an HBO live broadcast that I recall watching a few years ago. Couldn't remeber it all, but watching it again was still great fun, he is pretty frickin' amazing!!!!!!

I forgot to add Cleopatra to the review above. This is the version with Richard Burton and Liz Taylor, WOW what a movie, can't make 'em like that any more. The scene where Cleopatra enters Rome is awesome!
The cinematography was exceptional and the cast was amazing! Rex Harrison as Julius Caesar was just stunning!

With this cold crappy weather, I've watched a few flicks, here's the review.
1. Walking Tall, a remake of the original movie with The Rock, it was actually decent and better than I thought it would be. Good fight scenes!
2. Murder By Numbers, a Sandra Bullock flick about two teenage kids with too much time on their hands, the twists and turns are interesting and keeps you captivated. An interesting movie!!!!!
3. Windtalkers, it was on sale so I had to get it, an action yarn with Nick Cage. The cinematography wasn't bad, especially the Arizona Monument Valley scenes.
4. North Country, a true story based on a mining company class action lawsuit case. It was VERY well done and worth watching.
5. Alexander, the original version with Richard Burton, it was OK, no where near the level of Cleopatra, however.
6. Walk the Line, a flick about Johnny Cash and his life. It was TERRIFIC!!!!! The sound track was just stunning on my AV system, the bass just boomed!!! Reise Witherspoon was FANTASTIC, she earned that Oscar!!!!
7. Jarhead, it was different for a war flick, but well done nonetheless. Shows how lucky we are not having to fight in a war. Those guys go thru hell! Go Marines!!!
8. Rundown, another The Rock action flick, it was decent entertainment.
Some new DVDs are out tomorrow! Until next time....

I'd consider myself a man of science and I never took religion too seriously either. You should check out the book Tao of Phyics. It shows how modern science is now proving that what was said thousands of years ago is actually true in a sense. I'd say I'm more of a spirtual person. Anyways, being a man of science, I think that book will appeal to you. It's very factual.

Just an FYI, I saw Ultraviolet 2wks ago. Don't go see it. Don't even rent it. The movie is so bad that there is no solid story or plot. I tried to follow the movie, but in the end I just wanted to yell and scream at someone asking, "WtF was this movie about again?" I felt like someone just gave the film makers a buttload of cash and said "make a movie from this japanese comic and pour as much money as you can on special effects. I don't care about character development, story, or anything. Just special effects." This movie gets two thumbs down and a Colin Edwards salute.

Watched a few DVDs this past week, here's the review.
1) The Pelican Brief, it was actually quite good, lots of intrigue and big money scandel. Denzel Washington and Julia Roberts do a good job in this flick.
2) Dukes of Hazard, it was funny! I enjoyed it, even if it was predictable. The bloopers section of the DVD was hilarious.
3) Malice, a TERRIFIC thumbs up flick, wow, the twists and turns are captivating!
4) The Mod Squad, a remake of a 70s TV series. Wasn't as good as I wanted it to be, but it was average entertainment.
5) Derailed, another terrific thumbs up flick, it was great!!!!! Jennifier Aniston was terrifc, and looked great as well. :D
6) Kalifornia, a really different story with Brad Pitt in a "hick" role. He was terrific, the flick was a bit long, but well made. Interesting plot!
7) King Kong, just bought this DVD today, it was stunning! VERY well made and the special effects were just amazing!!! Jack Black is actually quite good in his role!

4) Goodnight, and Good Luck, it was actually quite interesting to see what the Commie craze of the 50s was like. It's in B&W and well made. Only if journalistic standards were so high today, as it was back then!!!!!
Looks like Sauce's movie is out tomorrow, I want to buy the DVD, but have some reservations it may not be to my liking.

I was actually so impressed with the movie that I went out and bought and read all 7 chronicles. They were all entertaining, easy reads. A lot of blatant religious symbolism that I didnt care for, but C.S Lewis's blending of different parts of different beliefs was definately interesting. Lion, Witch, Wardrobe was top 3 of the 7. I actually believe that all 7 books are going to be made into movies, the 2nd of which has already gone into production.

I got home earlier than I thought last night and I watched Broke Back Mtn.
It was different alright! But, I'll have to say that the cinematography was just stellar! The mountain scenes were just terrific!!!!
For a 2 hour long movie, it sure went by quickly! The subject matter wasn't appealling nor interesting, but the acting and character role playing were stunning, to put it "straight." (No pun intended.) :D
All in all, a well made movie.

OK, I was at Fry's last week and bought some DVDs, so here's the review.
1) Star Trek First Contact, by far my fav Next Gen Star Trek Movie. The opening Borg fight scene is just terrific with the cube and escape pod sphere. Good flick!
2) The Presidio, a good action yarn with Sean Connery and Mark Harmon, it had its twists and turns and was decent.
3) Sliver, a Sharon Stone movie, the unrated version, need I say more? She is hot in this movie, she was in her prime in this one!
4) Fun with Dick & Jane, OMG!!! I laughed my AZZ OFF on this one!!! Jim Carey was good, and didn't over do the acting like he normally does. Funny!
5) Dark Blue, this one was a real sleeper, I had never heard of this one and bought it since it was only $6.99. Wow, a really well done flick with good acting and a great plot. By far the best Kurt Russell movie I've ever seen. The sound track is stellar!!!!!
I have a few more DVDs to watch, more to follow...............

I love war flicks, and have a good collection.
I watched that series on HBO when it first aired. Great series, just didn't like the Battle of the Bulge episode, it was depressing as hell.
Loved the "attacking enemy artillery" and "over the dikes" episodes!

I totally argree with you on that the carentan on disk 2 and disk 3 are my personal favorites. the medic story and the Battle of the Bulge were import events in the story but i seem like it slowed the story line a bit.
I'm just getting into the sheild as well. that series is freaking nutts. If you haven't checked out the Sheild on FX or on DVD you are missing out.

was watching some old movies at home and came across memento its a good flick
about a guy trying to find a killer but he cant make any new memmories so he rights everything down and tattoos important names and info on himself.
Watched a few DVDs this past week, here's the review.
1) Lost in Space, a remake of the 60s TV series (that I used to watch) and it wasn't bad. The special effects were great and Dr Smith got what was coming to him!
2) Soul Plane, a comedy with Snoop Dog, it had its moments, but had its dry spots too.
3) Jerry Seinfeld in NY, a DVD of his NY act, it was pretty funny, I happen to like Seinfeld.
4) Once Upon a Time in China, a period piece with Jet Li. The action was great, the acting wasn't that great.
5) The Hindenburg, with George C Scott, a conspiracy theory movie about what may have caused the explosion and deaths of so many on board that air ship. Makes you really think hard about H2 as an energy source!
6) Misery, with James Caan and Cathy Bates. WOW, that scene where she breaks his ankles is too much! Terrific movie!
7) Thirteen Days, with Kevin Costner, a flick about the Cuban Missle crisis, probably THE BEST movie on this event that I've ever seen! The planes, ships, etc were all correctly done to reflect the early 60s. We came seriously close to an all out nuclear war!!!!!
8) Henry V, an average movie, needed WAY more action and less talk.
9) Aeon Flux with Charlize Theron, what can I say, she looked great! The movie was good too.:D
10) Old School, it was funny.
11) Tristan & Isolde, it was good, again needed a little more action for my tastes, more of a chick flick, but OK.
12) Wolf Creek, an Australian flick about 3 student types on a road trip in Aussie land who unfortunatley run across a local who kills tourists and steals their stuff. Scarey thoughts about travelling after seeing this one! But, a well done flick!
13) Casanova with Mr Broke Back Mtn, it was actually quite entertaining, and funny. The flick was filmed entirely on location in Vence and is very well done!
That's it, until next time.
Watched a few DVDs over the weekend.
1) Hostel, a Quentin Tarantino flick, WOW, makes you think twice about travelling any more!!!! VERY GRAPHIC, if you can't handle blood and gore, don't watch this.
2) Ice Station Zebra, an old 70s action yarn about a spy satellite film capsule. (How old skool!) But, a good Cold War action yarn nonetheless.
3) Les Miserables, a modern remake of the classic Victor Hugo novel with Liam Neison, it was quite good!
Ooops, also watched the following this past w/e as well.
4) Empire Under the Sun, a flick about a British boy captured by the Japanese during WWII in China. It was an interesting movie.
5) Murder at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, a Wesley Snipes action yarn that was actually decent.
6) The Package, an end of the Cold War action yarn that's good.
I bought some DVDs at Best Buys during lunch; Munich, Rumor Has It and New World. I'm going to watch Munich tonight!

Funniest movie I've seen in a long time. :laughing2
I watched a few flicks last week, not as many as usual due to Traffic School, so here's the review.
Munich, an interesting flick, it was about the "unofficial" Isreali action to assassinate the Munich plotters, where 12 Isreali athletes were killed. A really well made movie and interesting insight.
Rumor has it, a pretty funny movie about the "real" Mrs. Robinson and the "Graduate" and the offspring of that family. Very interesting and funny story line.
New World, a really well made flick, but BORING AS HELL! I fell asleep like 3 times. The first 20 minutes were great, then WHAM, I fell asleep. The location and time period replication were terrific though.
Trapped, a really good action/kidnap/revenge movie with Charlize Therron, what more do I need to say??? She was terrific and the story line, twists and turns were very captivating and entertaining.

Oops, forgot to include the following.
The 13th Warrior, a REALLY good action flick set in the 12-13th Century. The fight scenes are quite good and the movie is good entertainment!
The Robe, a classic movie from way back when about the Tribune who crucified Christ and then converted to Christianity. A top notch flick with some grand scenes and very well done.
Custer of the West, another oldie about George Armstrong Custer and how he got himself into The Last Stand. It was lengthy, and boring at times, but a good historical perspective on that battle.
The Syriana DVD is finally out tomorrow! :banana

my sister just presented me with a dvd she found at target....breakin'. i was up all night reliving my break dancing days. now all i need is wierd science and beverly hills cop to round out the 80's set.
It's been a while, but I've watched a few DVDs these past few weeks, so here's the review.
1) A Time to Kill, a great flick set in Mississippi and about the killing of two seriously bad doods who raped and left for dead the young daughter of a black father. Lots of intensity and terrific drama, racial strife, etc...a really well done movie.
2) The Robe, this is an old classic about the crucifixion of Christ and the changes that happen to the Romans who crucified him. A real classic and very well made.
3) The Great Train Robbery, an interesting oldie about the first well planned train robbery of a British Army gold shipment during the Crimean War.
4) Serenity, this flick was a trip, the special effects were terrific, but I fell asleep watching it about 1/2 way thru, and need to watch it over again! :D
5) Force 10 from Navarrone, another oldie WWII flick, but entertainig nonetheless.
6) Maverick, I liked this movie, it was funny and very well made!
7) Red Corner, a drama about murder and doing business in the PRC, the background scenery was terrific.
8) Titus, this DVD was a trip, it was like a 20s version of ancient Rome with the attendant drama. Long, but trippy and well made.
9) Underworld Evolution, Kate Beckensale yummy! She looked great in that vamp outfit, that's all I remember! :rolleyes Just kidding, it's the 2nd part of the saga and it's quite graphic, but well made.
10) The Constant Gardener, long and boring, but the cinematography was good.
11) Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, a funny funny movie about two scam artists who get scammed by a female con artist!
12) Firewall, this was a great flick, I enjoyed it 100%. Tense from start to finish!!!!
13) Wyatt Earp, the Kevin Costner version, a REALLY well made cowboy flick, the cinematography is just terrific!!!!!
14) Absolute Power, a well made drama about conspiracy and cover up by the White House. Good stuff!
15) Courage Under Fire, a Gulf War drama that is full of twists and turns and multiple viewpoints of a single event, I enjoyed it a lot!
Music DVDs
16) Eric Clapton Live In Hyde Park, AN AMAZING DVD, THE best live performance I've ever seen EC do!!! I'm a die hard EC fan, so this DVD is just golden to me, a MUST SEE for any EC fan!!!!!!! A TRULY stunning performance!!!! The sound track selection is STELLAR!!!!!!!
17) BB King Live, another great performance by a terrific blues artist. I also like Albert King, who I think is better than BB King.
18) Eric Clapton, One for the Road, his live performance at Staples Center, the Hyde Park DVD is SO much better!
19) The Cranberries Live, the sound track could have been better, and the stage was to small.
20) Aerosmith Live, You Gotta Move DVD, another stellar live performance, Joe Perry's guitar work was just STUNNING!
That's it, I have a bunch more DVDs that I bought, so those reviews will be posted later.

Yes, it was.
It was a good flick, the realism was terrific.
Of all the DVDs in my lastest review, "Eric Clapton Live In Hyde Park" stands out as THE best concert DVD I've seen in a LONG LONG time, and the best DVD of that whole grouping.
He was just fantastic in that concert, he played his heart out and it showed, the audience was just stunned by his live performance!
