I was getting nervous. The battery went dead, I forgot to turn on the fuel, couldn't find the choke or the fast idle. But after RTFM, it fired up. :banana

So im zippin around the parking lot, and decide to let it idle for about 20minutes to charge the battery, then the radiator overflow starts pissing. I must have overheated it from idling. So i gotta get some fluids (engine ice)? tomorrow for the track. :D

So you dirt bike guys... My engine is a 450. How much oil goes in there. I bought it, and it didnt seem like there was oil in it. So i poured about 2.5 quarts into it. Is that enough? :dunno

2.5 quarts is about double what mine takes. It will say in your owners manual how much it takes and where to check the levels at. The dealer should have filled it up though. Dont use engine Ice...if you want to race with me later, you will need to use water wetter and distilled water.

These bikes are jetted lean from the factory, DO NOT let it idle for more than a few minutes, it will over heat!!!!!

Get a Bat Tender and that will solve your chraging problem.

Get on Thumpertalk.com and see what people are running on Huskys for jetting.

You may want to richen the mixture screw for now. Also check out JDjetting.com and see if he has any needles and jet kits for your bike.

Yeah it was overheating on me on the track. Kept on stalling it (1 time was my fault :D ). In fact it overheated 2wice. Kinda was frustrated, because my battery was dead i had to push it back to the pits. (no kick starter) That was alot of work.

Thanks for the tips.

I followed your guidelines on the breaking in part: it definitely had plenty of heat cycles. :lmfao For the most part it didnt get romped on too much at all.

Everyone goes thru the same thing with these singles.

Keep an eye on your valves, that's VERY important!!!!

These hi performance singles need to have the valves checked out often. Check them at 10 hours, and then every 30 hours of use time after that.

Get a service manual, and learn how to do it yourself!
