Anyone know how to do this ?

I Need to remove the tank so i can get the airbox off, and then rewire and redo some cables for the rebuild.

It appears to have a pump under the tank with tubes etc coming from it. So if i just disconnec them it won't leak everywhere will it ? I haver always worked on carbueretted engines, so am not really familiar with this look :S (gravity fed fuel is so simple!)

Anyway i figure it must be a pump, and therefore with the complicated electronics on the bikes nowadays, it must be an on demand fuel system. OMG i am waffling.

Anyways, Anyone know the best way to do it? Or just unplug and go???

Thanks

ps. I got my cast off this week. Now all i need do is re learn to walk!

Just pull off the plugs and the electrical connectors. A little gas will come out of the main hose coming off the pump, but gas wont leak out of the tank. It will just be from the hose.

I like to plug the hoses with used up ear plugs. Just don't rewear those ear plugs... :yikes

Some honda tanks use a big (8mm hex) banjo bolt for the main gas line. you have to remove that as well.

We i got the tank off eventualy. And got lots of things covered in Fuel. Ahh well. The tank is now sitting out of the way complete with earplugs (heheh, Thanks MB).

Then after i get this off i find that i still can't route my cables until i get the airbox off. So now i have to locate the screws holding it all down.

so the thought hit me that, at some point... I will havta put all this back together!

Here is my garage before i took the tank off.

I am now in the process of trying to put all the bits back together..

Maybe i'll do a 'guess where this part should go' Quiz with the parts I have left over :D
