Better in what sense? A motard is basically a dirtbike that has been modified to take street tires, in addition to other upgrades.

its simple...a dirt bike is better in the dirt and a motard is better on the pavement :welcome

or get the 4 stroke dirtbike then convert it into a motard, so you can have the best of both worlds ;)

if you want to do both right out of the box...KTM SMC models are the ones to get. You buy the bike..it will come with motard wheels and dirt wheels in 1 package.

Mine is a converted dirtbike to supermoto and I enjoy ripping the kart tracks and road courses with it. I will eventually get some dirt wheels someday so I can play in the dirt as well.

Both are great and kind of like apples and oranges but if I had to choose I would go with the dirtbike. My reasoning is that there is a lot more dirt out there than tracks!

You can just go ride the moto bike in the desert where the SM requires more planning and organization. Get both.

learn how to ride in dirt first then ride supermoto.
