Wassup SBN? need someone's expertise or anyone's help. i have 26k miles on my 03 r6 and on cold startups the idle is fine, but after the bike gets hot it starts to sputter then die. some say i need a valve service, but i cannot cough up $9bills (Berts) or $7bills (Hahm) for it. does anyone know where i can get da bike fixed or what type of service do i really need?

Swing by Moomba and have Jimmy take a look at it...(When he's back from Laguna on Wed.).
I'll be thre either Wed or Thurs with my CBR for a bit of work.

You can try changing the spark plugs and clean the carbs. :) S

It sounds too lean but then I know crap about FI. I would definitely get it to Moomba. Have you had the valves checked if so, when. 7 or 9 bills sounds too much for a valve adjustment. What gives?? :dunno
Sounds like it needs a good major tune up including a valve adjustment.
I believe Yamahas are spec'd at 26K mile intervals for valve adjustments.

I know it sounds disgustingly simple, but my buddy had an R1 with similar problems around 15k. He threw some fuel injector cleaner into a tank of fresh gas and solved the problem immediately.

well I dont know how the 3rd gen r6 is but if its anything like the past engines with a bucket and shim for the valve setup, at 26k miles it shouldnt need an adjustment or in the very least be so bad that it causes problems.

Bring it by the shop and we'll have Jimmy test ride the bike & check it out to see what it's doing.
