well today i got yet another nail in my rear tire. this is the 2nd busted up tire in a month. first one was an inch long nail, today's was a 2 inch screw! how does this happen? must be my luck. both nails also happened to be outside of the middle region. i am now officially broke. just thought i'd rant a bit here.

Buy the tire protection plan thingy (crap, the name eludes me at the moment) that some places offer. It seems like it would come in handy for you.
What route do you normally take? Does it take you through a lot of construction areas?

i take the 405 from ucla to torrance and back normally. not too much drivin besides that. there is construction on the 405, but i never ride next to the wall in the carpool lane. there is some construction around westwood, but i dont' see how my tires can attract these nails more than any other vehicle. its not like i go off-roading on my cbr.

It's a 405 thing.

Why don't you just patch them? it's easy to do yourself. I recently got a flat heading in to work...pulled the nail and fixed it on the side of the road.

I've never gotten a nail in my tire, or even a flat for that matter. (knock on wood) I don't see how some people are so prone to this???

heading for the crest, just b4 i hop on the freeway, i notice my bike's riding real funny. I get off, take a look, and there was a big ass razor in my back tire, completely flat. What r the odds?... or maybe someone don't like me... :hide

doe12...are you getting a new tire with every nail?
just get them patched and plugged. mark the hole, take the tire off, bring it to a motorcycle shop and tell them to patch AND plug it. it should be less than $20. I've run tires with two patch/plugs in them and wore them all the way down without any problems. do you split lanes alot? riding on the 405 you probably do...that is how you get alot of crap in your tires that you pick up from the shit that settles in between the lanes.

We do patch/plugs, the only safe solution for tire fixing!

well, so far i've gotten a new tire with each, but that was only because i needed a tire so i could get to where i needed to go that day. i've kept the "new" punctured tires that i had and i'm going to be plugging and patching them. and yes, i do split lanes a lot on the 405. i hate the 405
