how hard is it to remove and replace the alternator/stator cover on a 2001 cbr f4i? can it be done fairly easily with no stands and 2 people with no power tools?

It should be fairly easy. You'll just need to drain the oil beforehand. And you'll need a new gasket and some sealant.

It's easy, you don't need to drain the oil (unless you'd like to do an oil change since you're working on the bike). A little oil will drip out when you remove the stator cover, but not all of it, so place a rag or small catch tray/bucket underneath. I'm not sure if yours uses a gasket, my 600RR uses silicon sealer.
Good luck! :thumb

i've been checkin out pictures in the manual, and the stator is attached to the cover, and there is also a wire running out of the case and connecting to a harness of some sort. i think i can remove and reattach the stator, but i'm worried about the wire. what exactly does it do? oh as for the oil, my stator cover was cracked and all the oil leaked out already, so i don't think i'll need to worry too much about oil leaking.

should be fairly simple but heres a tip for you take pictures before you start and every step you take it will help you put it back together without extra parts also if you get stumped you can post the pics and we can help you by looking at the pics alot of the time
