The noise level of the 4 strokes is off the chart.
I was at Piru and it was pack with 4 strokes and the ground literally started to shake.
It doesn't help that people put FMF pipes,Pro Circuit, and Yoshimira pipes on 4 strokes.
Also, people are closing down places to ride because of the noise level.
About 20 parks get restricted a year because of the idiots who make their bikes as loud as possible.
Another reason is because 4 strokes tend to tear up tracks more than the 2 strokes do.
Even people who think there all cool make 2 strokes as loud as they can go.
So if you have a 4 stroke please don't make it louder try to make it quieter because I know that some of you guys have 4 strokes but aren't jerks like some other people.
So help to save our sport.
So that the riding popularity and tracks popularity can increase.
Save dirtbikes.
Also, quads don't help at all because after there done the track is gone.
Save motocross.
Thanx
JB

My YFZ is loud as hell. I ordered a new slip on this week in order to get a spark arrestor. I did get one which is under the db forest limit. Pretty easy.

See like Hurricane said guys its that easy to save motocross.
I never understood that, I prefer quiet bikes to protect my hearing, they're loud as it is!
With the ever expanding population and needed housing, all of this was inevitable, and will only get worse with time.
I just hope Gorman will stay open for the foreseeable future!

I know there loud as they are but it doesn't help to put FMF etc. pipes on the 4 strokes.
Which some guys do just to be loud and annoying.
So yeah there pretty loud to began with but it doesn't help to make them louder.

Well I wouldn't bash FMF outright. I looked into the Q2 pipe which is also a quiet pipe as is the original Q model. It seems as though all the manufacturers have at least one "quiet" model. It is definately the consumers that are making the choice. In so cal, unless you ride motard or a track, you have to meet db requirements, including Gorman, the forest, and AMA desert races. The guy I ride with has a E2 by white bros and he can hear my bike coming up behind him as it is that loud with a stock pipe. It was fun for about a minute, now it is annoying. Not to mention it is rediculous on the street. Sounds like 1/2 of the Sauce's duc.

I've got a stock pipe on my bike and it's sort of loud.
But 4 strokes stock are twice as loud as 2 stroke with a FMF pipe.
4 strokes are good bikes but there to loud.
The only 4 strokes that aren't loud are the Honda CRF bikes.

you must mean the crf150 and 230's... because my 450R is loud as HELL even with the stock pipe. Most guys change their pipes for power gains (those that ride FAST) and there are a lot of them on the track. Another reason is, stock pipes dont usually have Spark arrestor inserts for them and you cant use stock mufflers out in the trails. Have you felt weight of the stock exhaust and a FMF TI system? There's a HUGE difference.
I changed my muffler on my 125 because i needed a spark arrestor, I changed the pipe because the power on the 125 blew. It still blows... I changed it thinking it would make a difference but it wasnt the pipe. it's my jetting. On two strokes it seems the sounds come from the pipe and not out the muffler. And the exact opposite on the 4 strokers.
I changed the muffler on my 450R because i needed a spark arrestor, I might buy a full system because it's A LOT lighter. FMF usually doesnt give much power gains and arent AS loud as others. The pro Circuit pipes are FRIGGIN loud! The bike weighs almost 70 pounds more than I do. An extra couple pounds shaved off, might not help... but then again maybe it will.
I agree that some pipes are Friggin loud, but not everyone out there is trying to make their bikes louder.
